The Public Works Department coordinates with contracted engineers and planners for construction and maintenance of municipal infrastructure, including streets, roads, sidewalks and traffic control devices.  In addition, Public Works personnel provide building maintenance services.

Water supply and waste-water treatment are also under the management of the public works director.  The City of St. John offers complete water services utility to local residents at very competitive rates and quality.

The Public Works Department proves water treatment and distribution, waste-water treatment and collection, street maintenance, snow removal, swimming pool, city park maintenance, signage, and storm water drainage.
